I’ve seen a lot of posts/comments asking which floor mats are best and what they should get for their Cybertruck/other Teslas. I’ve been using 3D Maxpider floor mats on my Tesla Model Y for several years now because of how popular they were, but recently picked up a set of 3W Carliners and wanted to do a comparison.

Note that this comparison is for my Model Y floor mats, but I believe both companies will be releasing options for the Cybertruck very soon.

Looks/Fitment:
This part is subjective but I always felt that my 3D Maxpider floor mats looked plain and not very good. I don’t think I would’ve purchased them at the time if 1. it wasn’t the only floor mats available and 2. they weren’t so highly recommended. The material doesn’t look very premium, the fitment is not that good, and they just seem kind of plain overall.

The 3W Carliners look a lot more modern and sleek, and their fitment is just so much better. They actually contour to all of the interior edges and don’t have any gaps in their coverage. I also have these mats in my Bronco and those have a really neat design with tire treads on them, so I’m curious to see what they’ll go with for the Cybertruck.

Winner: 3W Carliners

Materials:
The 3D Maxpider mats are made of thermoplastic rubber (TPR) cross-link polyethylene (XPE), whereas the 3W Carliner is made of thermoplastic elastomer. For those who have no idea what that means, the 3D Maxpider is a composite type material that feels like a mix of rubber and plastic (with a Velcro hook-type bottom) whereas the 3W Carliners are just a solid rubber. I prefer the rubber of the 3W Carliners because it’s heavier and weighs it down, whereas the 3D Maxpider floor mats move around quite a bit and just don’t feel as solid.

Winner: 3W Carliners (my opinion)

Durability/Cleanability:
I’ve had the 3D Maxpider mats for 4+ years now and they’ve held up alright. They haven’t ripped or anything but they’re definitely not the easiest to deep clean and they also don’t fit as well as they used to. The 3W Carliners that I’ve had in my Bronco for the past couple years have held up great and still fit perfectly, so I’m expecting these to be the same.

One of the biggest reasons why I swapped out the 3D Maxpider mats was because of how hard they are to deep clean. I did a few cleaning tests on the 3D vs 3W using some dirt/mud/water, and the dirt just sticks inside all the crevices of the 3D Maxpider mats and doesnt come out very easily. The 3W mats look slightly textured but are smooth to the touch, and everything just comes right off. The water beads right off of the 3W Carliners whereas it sheets on the 3D Maxpider, showing that the 3W mats are almost hydrophobic like a ceramic coat.

Winner: 3W Carliners

Conclusion:
Overall, I wish I didn’t follow the hype and rush into buying the 3D Maxpider floor mats for my Tesla Model Y. They didn’t match the interior, the material isn’t the best, and most importantly, they don’t fit well so they don’t provide the best coverage. The 3W Carliners are just better overall in my opinion and I’d definitely recommend picking up a set if you’re in the market for one.

Also, I just saw that @3W Carliners are at SEMA so I’m excited to see what they unveal for the Cybertruck.
